International Alliance of Research Universities
Yale University is one of the ten members of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU). The others are the Australian National University, ETH Zürich, National University of Singapore, Peking University, University of California, Berkeley, University of Cambridge, University of Copenhagen, University of Oxford, and the University of Tokyo. The membership will be limited to ten for the first three years after which additional members may be added to widen geographic representation.
IARU membership provides Yale with opportunities to learn from other universities that are aggressively pursuing their global agendas. It enables Yale to ascertain what projects and initiatives other leading universities are undertaking in their internationalization efforts. IARU convenes meetings of groups of administrators to discuss common problems and interested faculty to discuss collaborations on educational and research programs. Each member university is free to participate or not in any of the IARU projects or meetings.
