Yale British Art Center.

Yale University's extensive museum collections have an international focus. The Yale Center for British Art, which opened in 1977, holds the largest collection of British art and illustrated books anywhere outside the United Kingdom. The Yale Art Gallery, which was the first university art gallery in the United States when it opened in 1832, houses ancient, medieval, Renaissance, Near and Far Eastern, Pre-Columbian, African, and modern art, as well as a rich collection of archaeological material from the University's excavations.

With over 12 million volumes the Yale University Libraries comprise one of the four largest library collections in the United States. The Yale Library spends $2 million a year acquiring international and area materials. It holds more than 300 current newspaper subscriptions from around the world and has special departments devoted to regional collections.

Yale's Peabody Museum

Yale's Peabody Museum of Natural History, founded in 1866, contains a vast international collection of artifacts. The Peabody houses the second-largest repository of dinosaur relics in the United States, including this specimen of Moeritherium lyoni from Egypt.
